Carmen Lundy - Live at the Madrid
- Carmen Lundy is not afraid. Her songs are filled with the self-assurance of a master painter, yet she works as hard as a stonecutter, and the final product is a tapestry of music. While she is the leader, composer and creative force behind Live at the Madrid, the album seems to grow on its own. Some singers say that the music is there for support or backup, but here Carmen allows it to flourish in order to be able to meet her vocal challenge. I've never heard a conch shell solo before, yet the song "Afrasia!" opens with it and then proceeds to complimentarily blend in with her vocal style. A snail has never sounded this good before!
