Garrison Starr - Sound of You and Me
- Sound of You and Me is a soulful, expressive and heart-laden lyrical piece of work. I didn't find it to be a rock CD — more like Indie. Although there are some strong string instruments, the vocals make it more Norah Jones and Sheryl Crow mixed into one.
Singer Garrison Starr is a southern Mississippi starlet, who sings her heart and essence into the mike while stringing her guitar. She has two other albums under her collar: Songs From Takeoff to Landing and Airstreams and Satellites. She is making strides as a solo female rock artist, writing her own songs, looking like the average, non-anorexic American female, and having hits on the charts. Her songs are mature, which might have some folks thinking it will make you cry or sit and think too much. It does try to reach you on an emotional level, unlike most music these days. It's not to just have you singing the chorus while tapping your feet &38212; more likely, it will have you nodding your head in approval and closing your eyes to feel the warmth and meaning. You can feel Starr's pain, but unlike most people, pain is something Starr has used to make herself stronger, not hold her back.
