Young Jeezy - Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101
- Street hip-hop at it's finest.
This CD being Young Jeezy's first major release from Def Jam Records, this artist keeps this lyrics on a straight up street level and real honest. The indications of what this whole album is about are the design on the CD, the title track and first song, "Thug Motivation 101, and track 3 "Gangsta Music". His writing skills are extremely colorful with metaphors and street slang. For example, he says "I'm what the streets made me, a product of my environment (hustler). I'm what the streets gave me, a product of my environment (drugs)."
He also enlists some of the best street-type A-list rhymers on this album with Young Buck, Trick Daddy, and his boss Jay-Z. All guests lived up to their billing. The tracks that I enjoyed the most was 3 and 13: "Gangsta Music" and "Bang" because not only does he have a lot of word play, but the music is excellent, if you love heavy bass drums and keyboard instrumentals. I also loved the sound effects of a money machine in the background of the opening track. The only reason someone would not purchase this CD is because of how derogatory and street his mouth is with profanity and such. He needs to take a lesson from his mentor Jay-Z with more word play and less use of the "N(**gga)" word. Overall rating: B+ and "Standing Ovation" (track #2).
