Hamel on Trial - Songs for Parents who Enjoy Drugs
- Oh my goodness…I mean I am no prude but songs like Jerkin, where Ed Hamel is singing of just that, takes raunchy lyrics to the next level. On Songs for Parents Who Enjoy Drugs, Hamel on Trial uses bold lyricism and candid politics. He is attacking politicians not from an intellectual standpoint or anything political but from an immature name calling and songs such as Coulters Snatch, give light to such. "This album is for all those liberal-minded people who can’t fathom raising a child in this world of non-tolerance," explains Ed Hamel. But he really isn’t saying much.
I mean Kayne West said more in his one sentence during the Hurricane Katrina’s fundraiser and was much more poignant and awakening then this CD will ever be. As far as lyrical ingenious, this is not, musically it is something to take note to, but that is it. And the fact that Hamel has a three year old son, who will one day hear what his father put together and called music, is amazing. I mean I thought Parenthood was supposed to mature people and enlighten them to the evils of the world, not Hamel; he is perpetrating such devilish impish ways, especially with this CD. Of course this review and all others, that don’t favor Hamel, will make listeners go out and get it. Oh well I tried.
