DJ Cam (Laurent Daumail) is French born DJ who was born in 1973. His first contact with music at age 8 with the classical piano music and developed a love for jazz because his father was a fan. His first release, 1994's Underground Vibes was followed by Underground Live (1996), Substances (1996), DJ Kicks (1997), The Beat Assassinated (1998), The Loa Project Vol.1/Vol. 2 (2000), and Soulshine (2002). After working with NAS on "Made You Look" (GOD'S SON '03). After all these albums, he is now releasing one of his best pieces of work.

For example, some of the best remixes on this album is #5 "Voodoo Child [remix of DJ]" sounded hip hop influenced more than jazz. Then on selection #7 "Success" has some old-school scratching and mixing that could grab a listener and get attention. Track #9 "Broadcasting Live [remix of Lord Finesse]" sounds really good to with a mixture of hip hop lyrics and incorporating jazz with it successfully. My favorite on the album is #11, "Love Junkee [J Dilla]" remix. Knowing that he (J Dilla born "James Yancy") just died last week, this song just continues to show growth for DJ Cam and helping the Slum Village native (J Dilla) sound great. This track had good sounding simple bass drums that incorporated a piano key not and mixed with what sounded like a flute sound to complete the track.

This album is cool for office use for someone who just wants to hear something different. For those who want consistent hip-hop or jazz, you may only want to sample this CD.
