Apathy - Eastern Philosophy
- Hailing from Connecticut, with Underground Hip Hop roots, Apathy made his debut with a guest appearance on Jedi Mind Tricks’ 1997 LP. Since then he has released an incredible series of 12” singles, a homemade do-it-yourself album (“The Bootleg CD”) and was a major part of the recent Demigodz EP. Singles like “The Smackdown,” “Just Begun,” “That Ol’ Boom Bap,” and “No Joke” have earned him a strong following. Underground fans might not be happy, but Apathy has signed with with Atlantic Records, and in March will be releasing Eastern Philosophy. I personally think Eastern Philosophy will make waves in the mainstream. It is what Hip Hop and Rap used to be, something to listen to and think about. The lyrics and beats are remnants of old school 90’s eastern Rap, which is something that is not forgotten and much awaited for a comeback.

Apathy says of his titling the CD “To me, the title had to be something simple and profound, one which reflected east coast life. I've always felt there is something deep about where you were raised. No matter how worldly or well traveled you are your views, your mannerisms and general character is formed in the place you consider home. And the fact that it paints someone’s life like that is real deep to me.” The definition of “Eastern Philosophy” can be interpreted many ways across the globe, but at its core, the essence of the ancient practice can be translated to mean “the eternal search for absolute truth.”
