Beautiful Creatures
Deuce

Arriving on the scene in the year 2000, Beautiful Creatures was immediately signed to Warner Brothers Records. In a day and age where guitar driven bands such as Jet, Velvet Revolver, and Audioslave rule the airwaves, Beautiful Creatures stand up to the challenge and deliver the complete package. They are taking their screaming chords even further into the 21st Century. They have just recently finished recording their sophomore album, "Deuce". This much anticipated album comes out after the first self-titled album, "Beautiful Creatures", did not get as much promotion as they expected.

This is straight up rock and roll, whiskey drinking, metal-driven rock and roll. There is no crying about how mom was too hard on me or such lyrics. This is booze, long-haired women, late night partying, and cigarettes chasing alcohol. If you love 80's "hairspray band" type rock you will love this record. These guys have pure rock being resurrected. These guys will compete blow for blow with Velvet Revolver. This is a must have CD to any person who listens to hard rock with a heart for true rock'n'roll hits. All the head bangin' opens up early and keeps going. For example, the first two selections, "Freedom", selection #2 It just has a great sound for the environment created and the lyrics are off-the-chain with kick. There is a softer side to the album as well.

Then, track #2, "Anyone" continues the aggressive play. The song lyrics I made out, "I don't want to be just like anyone, I don't want to be just like you." To me, this is a very daring move toward the attitude that they want respect and success more than the popularity. They will eventually have all of the above if they continue on their current path. Each track, like #3 "Unforgiven" has it's own certain amount of metal respect that they are trying to stuff down your throat. Another example is track #7, "Never". This track was more subtle at the start, but has definite sound of a reminder of Guns N' Roses or Velvet Revolver sound.

One of my favorites is track #8, "Straight to Hell" because it rocks with fast-paced acoustic and bass guitar and grungy vocals that anyone who enjoys heavy metal would dig. It's just a fast-paced rock that really hits the spot. Singing "Straight to Hell", I can see the band and audience hair just swinging in circles, guitar solo spots, and a sweaty mosh pit as the music plays at near deaf volume in a concert. Track #13, "I won't be the One", is a ballad toward the clos of the record. It's okay, but the album will sell for those looking to rock out. This is a relatively new rock group that is determined to remind the world of what Rock & Roll is really all about.

Beautiful Creatures released their self-titled debut album in 2001, featuring the songs "1 A.M." and "Ride" which appear on the movie soundtrack Valentine and at full-length in the movie Rollerball. Also making television show appearances were songs "1 A.M." on Smallville and "Wasted" on The Man Show. The debut Beautiful Creatures album was widely accepted as a commanding voice of how real Rock & Roll should be played.

They first warmed-up on a short leg of the KISS Reunion Tour. Then they tore-it-up across the country with the OzzFest Tour. Still hungry for more, Beautiful Creatures played out the year on the Rolling Rock Tour before heading overseas for a headlining tour through Japan.
