Panic! At the Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
- Initially, I was quite perplexed as I questioned whether the store had accidentally filled my Panic! At the Disco “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” case with a Fall Out Boy disc. Many bands in the emo, pop, punk genre are difficult to differentiate but I’m not sure I’ve heard two bands that are more comparable. It makes sense considering Panic! At the Disco is the first to sign to FOB bassist and lyricist Peter Wentz’s label Decaydance Records. The album’s combination of rock and dance make for a very upbeat sound, with two distinct feels to the structure. Shifting from an ultramodern techno sound to a retro jazz feel, the album does provide a certain amount of creativity. If you’ve yet to be exposed to Panic!, imagine Hellogoodbye’s tight melodies with Fall Out Boy’s vocalist, and you have it. Panic! At the Disco “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” is a solid album but will likely slip into mediocrity because it fails to distinguish itself in such a cluttered genre.
