Acceptance - Phantoms
- Acceptance--with their first full length album “Phantoms”-- is another on the long list of pop/punk bands that will never reach Jimmy Eat World at the top. However, the Seattle band’s transition to the major label scene, signing with Universal, has significantly diversified their sound. The addition of an official keyboardist combined with vocalist Jason Vena’s passionate voice allows the band to create songs that evoke more emotion. With a mixture of subtle guitar strums and intense riffs under fairly standard lyrical content such as love, loneliness, and breakups, the band is sure to capture the hearts of teens. The band reminds me of a softer version of Amberlin, with hints of Juliana theory and JamisonParker.

Acceptance's “Phantoms” isn’t innovative or groundbreaking, but it does have a lot to offer in its lyrics and melodies. It is one of those albums that you either like or love, it doesn’t stray far enough from the norm for aversion.
