Bryan Sutton - Not To Far From Home
- Bryan Sutton, for those who are unfamiliar with the name, is the biggest acoustic guitar player of bluegrass these days. Making Not To Far From The Tree his third solo release, Sutton wanted to do something special. He decided to make a tribute album of sorts to all those guitarists that went before him and inspire him today. Sutton, in a car ride home back from a gig, says “I was thinking about all these guys that had influenced me and that some of them weren't going to be around forever. I was thinking about records like Mark O'Connor's record of fiddle heroes and Jerry Douglas's record with all the Dobro players."
With this third release, Sutton creates exactly what he set out to do. The album is a collection of tributes to the greats that had paved the way for the guitarist himself. He lays tribute to Tony Rice, Norman Blake, and Jerry Douglas to name a few. Each track, though only containing duet guitar melodies, is different and entertaining in their own rights. This album is a must have for super fans of the bluegrass guitar, Bryan Sutton, or good instrumental music in general.
