Wa-Zimba - Mande Wazy
- Wa-Zimba is a trio consisting of founding member Philippe Robert (French jazz-fusion guitarist), Pierre Acourt (French keyboardists) and Julio Rakotonanahary (Malagasy bassist and vocalist).
Wa-Zimba’s debut album “Mande Wazy" is such burst of liveliness, and spirit within the 12-track offering that its music made me feel happy just to experience the array of sounds being heard. I’m quite fond of the flute, it’s one of my favorite instruments, and it really shed some glorious sounds throughout the album.
“Zaho Koa Andeha”, “Tsy Mampaninona”, “Namana” are wonderfully expressive songs bringing a joyful, and light feel into the air. The next three songs “Ela”, “Vonjeo” and “Andeha Hody” are outstanding. I really took to these songs and felt a deep connection to them, especially with the beautiful “Ela.” Everyone should take a listen, if just once, for the beautiful melody, emotion, and the quality of the song’s delivery musically, and vocally.
It’s been a lovely pleasure to review such a fine, fine album as Wa-Zimba’s“Mande Wazy.”
