Bullets and Octane - In the Mouth of the Young
- Bullets and Octane, that explosive band of Southern California deviants pelts your chest with its laboratory experiment splicing strains of punk with hard rock. BANG!: It’s ALIVE!!!! The final product is loud, it’s heavy, roaring vocals, it’s wailing, rocking guitars, monster riffs, dislocate your vertebrae head-banging music, and - barring the disapproval of doctors and people who have experienced hearing loss and find it extremely over-rated– it’s ready for mass consumption.
Yes they rock hard, but the band shows a softer side (as in less yelling), with songs like “Cancer California,” “Last Mistake” and the grim, melodic “Bathroom Floor” mellowed by the presence of piano chords (How’d those get in there?). Don’t worry, by the last song, “Mine Now” Bullets and Octane is back to their hellish fanfare.
Bullets and Octane packs a fireball of energy at the center of which, so I hear, is a ‘big ole f---- you.’ WOW, and I thought the Cracker Jack prizes were cool!
“In the Mouth of the Young” is a screaming good time, if you’re into that sort of music. If not, well, “f--- you!!!”
Ha ha! - What? They said it! ...
