Tool - 10,000 Days
- Let’s get something straight, Maynard James Kennan Ivory Wayans – or whatever the hell his name is, freaks me out. He’s the kind of guy, who is worshipped by a bunch of people who shop at Hot Topic, and they, incidentally, freak me out as well. However, it should be said that any real critic would put aside his or her personal feelings and judge the product of the artist in order to create an unbiased opinion that fully encapsulates the energy and effort in the work at hand. This, however, is not that kind of review. Why can Tool not produce an album, song or single sound for that matter, that is not exactly like the one that appeared before it; regardless the span of time in-between said products individual conception. It all sounds exactly the same, which I suppose, is a reason why they have remained so popular for so long. Saying that, I am simultaneously amazed that there are still fans of this music out there. I guess there are still Warrant and Poison fans out there too. 10,000 Days has the recipe for success, if there is such a thing, in regards to a Tool album. It is dark, glum and depressing. I’m sure there are several videos in the works where a granite skinned guy locked in a desolate room stands idly by as twigs grow out of his ass. The point here is Tool is old news. In their defense they created a novel sound, ten years ago, but now it’s just tired and embarrassingly dull.
