Ayiesha Woods - Introducing Ayiesha Woods
- The debut album by Ayiesha Woods appropriately titled, “Introducing Ayiesha Woods,” blends varied instruments and thought provoking vocals to make an aesthetically pleasing album. The opening track, “Happy,” does what the title implies, it’s the kind of song listeners can blast while driving at full volume and just feel its message. “The Remedy” slows things down a bit with an acoustic bent and Woods whispers her vocals, which gives the song a more relaxed tone. “Big Enough” doesn’t slam the listener with too much instrumental nonsense, it eases into the music and background vocals from Christopher Stevens give a back and forth quality element that’s akin to a musical conversation.
“Introducing Ayiesha Woods” has a bevy of unusual instruments not found on most other albums such as the organ, harmonica, accordion, trombone and that’s just naming a few. “Crazy,” has a flute intro and Woods speaks in an island like tone, which gives the song a definite Caribbean feel. The later part of the album gets soulful in its music and verses. “What You Do To Me,” is romantic with such lyrics as, “When you speak to me, whispering softly, love’s sweet melody” listeners can feel the emotion while “Days” has a spiritual message to it.
Throughout the whole album, there are two underlying musical meanings. One is empowerment of spirit and the other is that beauty is on the inside. If you want an album you can really listen to and if you’re in a melancholy mood and need a pick me up, then “Introducing Ayiesha Woods” will do just that.
