Barry Adamson - Stranger On The Sofa
- If listeners like very odd almost cryptic music then Barry Adamson’s “Stranger On The Sofa” is just the ticket. The first track is filled with beeping noises then get repetitive and downright annoying. The second track changes course completely to a more normal country music feel. The fourth track has a more fast-paced flow and sounds very jazz oriented where one could think the first couple of tracks were just anomalies. The fifth track has lyrics like, “there’s another point of view trying to push through.” The sixth track with its menacing beats could easily be in the soundtrack to a horror movie as a murderous killer stalks his prey to this song.
The horror movie tone continues into the seventh track with threatening vocals which are indecipherable given their low tone. The eighth track is the weirdest track by far with its subject matter being that of a fly and an aggressive one at that. Most of the tracks on “Stranger On The Sofa” are incredibly depressing. If listeners like dark, foreboding music and lyrics then this is the album for you but in my opinion, I wouldn’t let this stranger on my sofa let alone in my CD player.
