You In Series - Outside We Are Fine
- I don’t know if there is such a thing as soft-hard rock, and not wanting to go out on such a disastrous limb by coining a term to describe an entirely unreal genre of music I’ll simply dub this hard-rock for the bubblegum crowd. This is the kind of stuff you might have heard in a montage sequence for a shitty Marvel Comics film adaptation, such as “Daredevil,” “Elektra” or “Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Bad movies, forgettable music!? Does that mean that there’s nothing to like about this music? Not at all!
Fact of the matter is that if you plan on working out at a health club or working for a dot-com then you probably have to deal with this music, so you might as well get used to this stuff now. Yes, I know the band’s youthful, punk-on-pop vocals and loud guitars might get on your nerves at first, but just try getting the huge guy behind the counter of the free-weights area of your local Sierra Sports Club to change what’s coming out of the loudspeaker. It’s not going to happen, so just learn to rock along with these guys and their pained lyrical poetry about summer-fun and tough experiences. I guess they’re playing to the pubescent or just recently post-pubescent crowd, so maybe I’m just not receiving what they’re yelling at me from the right angle. Maybe??.
Look, if you happen to just love this stuff for some reason then go out and buy the latest Offspring offering, or go rent “Crazy Taxi” for the X-Box and “make some crazy money” while listening to this kind of music. Either way you’re better off.
