David Benoit - Full Circle
- The most recent album from instrumentalist David Benoit is a rejuvenating jaunt that goes from one spectrum of symphonic proficiency to another. “Café Rio” is a lively refrain that portrays Benoit’s capability on the piano and one you can imagine being played at a tropical club in Rio. “First Day Of School” has a leisurely flutter and the initiation of drums and the Hammond Organ musically capture the apprehension of that first day at school. “Water To Drink (Agua de Beber)” brings more to the party with bass guitar, synthesizer and even the trombone so Benoit’s prowess is only amplified.
Percussion is used in “Beat Street,” and could make listeners shake their groove thing. Other instruments that are employed on “Full Circle” are acoustic guitar, keyboards, flute, trumpet and cello making this album one that is ambitious in its use of assorted apparatus. “Chasing The Tides” gives off a serene sensation with some defined saxophone playing that is reminiscent of Kenny G. When you hear this track you might think of walking along a nearby beach either alone with your thoughts or holding hands with the one your sweetheart.
“Monster In The Attic” makes the most use of the synthesizer than on any other track and thus lives up to the track’s title but not too much as to turn off listeners. With a bounty of resonances, this record from David Benoit covers the “Full Circle.”
