The instrumental bravado of Daniel Santiago's, "On The Way," is breathtaking. The first track is addictive with hasty guitar and drum work. The second track is listless and could have been on the soundtrack to "Don Juan DeMarco" starring Johnny Depp because of its notable Latin bend. The third track tones it down considerably and could be a song listened to after a long relationship ends, if lyrics were included this song would be even more captivating. The fourth track brings the shaker into the mix and resurrects the Latin beat from the earlier song. The sixth track is more restrained and toned down . Santiago's first-class guitar work is flaunted by the screeching as he changes chords on each note; the action affirms his capacity to really make the guitar cry. Although some of the songs sound alike, the dedication with which Santiago plays each will override the similarities. This album has a collection of sounds and emotions attached to it that can be set to whatever frame of mind the listener is in, whether it be lamenting over love gone wrong or doing the latest of the traditional Latin dances, you should be on your way to pick up this album.
