Gaelic Storm - Bring Yer Wellies
- You’ll want to “Bring Yer Wellies,” before facing the eye of the Gaelic Storm. Don’t say they didn’t warn ya. Now, come along – What’s that? You don’t know what those are? Oh, well, why didn’t you say so? Wellies, short for Wellington, are knee-high waterproof boots, see? Perfect for braving the swelling water levels following a storm. One listen to the infectious drumming and swinging fiddle of the fast spitting opener “Scalliwag,” and you won’t be able to resist the invitation to “Come on and wade way out into the water with me, we’re drowning on dry land.” So, you’ll want to be prepared for the toe tapping, splashing fun.
Like many, your first introduction to the popular Celtic troupe may very well have been aboard the ‘Titanic.’ In the movie, that is, the Gaelic Storm provided the fiery cure to Rose’s stifled spirit and set off a flurry of clicking heels among the steerage class passengers. From there, the band officially minted on St. Patty’s Day 1996, has gained a loyal international following over a decade, highlighted by five albums and two national tours. “Bring Yer Wellies” the latest treat from Gaelic Storm never runs low on energy and spirit and supplies a ready flow of rowdy, up-tempo tunes including “Me and the Moon,” “The Devil Down Below” and “Don’t Go For the One.” Even the slower tracks like “Kiss Me I’m Irish” will have you singing along since the mellow tempos are rich with rhythm and stirring melodies. “Bring Yer Wellies” definitely has the 'look' of the Irish about it, and it’s a fine look indeed! – Now, come along!
