Leatherwolf - World Asylum
- Leatherwolf’s “World Asylum,” is an album with a haunting earful for listeners but punctuated by quick-witted guitar play. The opening track, “I Am The Law,” has a crushing drum build up that could rev up listeners for the song but the lyrics are excessively morbid with lines like, “ Evil world is our prey…competition is buried six feet deep…buying lies and selling souls.” The new singer, Wade Black, has a frightening mercenary-like voice but his vocal range is inordinately high which is shown when his voice goes from low to amazingly high. “King Of the Ward,” has an intro that gives the impression of plummeting into the unknown. But where listeners or the band could fall is open to interpretation. The third track might cause alarm for parents of listeners who are of an impressionable age. “Behind The Gun,” has the gruesome lyric, “Tell me father, are you the one who killed the man behind the gun?” The lyrics are ill boding but the flawless drum and guitar work makes this band’s fourth album one that is truly a force to be reckoned with in the dark metal genre.
