Smoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors by Lee Ritenour is an album of smooth jazz in which the listener can dive into several different musical stylings.

The album uses smooth jazz as its base, but there are hints of Latin, African and vocals in some of the songs. Lee Ritenour adds these extra sounds to each song with the skill of a long-time instrumentalist.

I think the album is called "Smoke and Mirrors" because much of the time you are hearing one style of music and then seamlessly the song transforms into a new style or a new instrument is added to the mix.

I do not like most smooth jazz music, because it always reminds me of the Weather Channel. However, Lee Ritenour's "Smoke and Mirrors" did entertain me with its musical approach and quick, but not noticeable, transitions.
