Eibol - Karma Kingdom
- From the first line of the album, Eibol’s “Karma Kingdom” catches the listener’s attention and holds it throughout this jazz inspired hip-hop landscape. Eibol and his Fingerprint Records brethren will be a force to keep your eye on in the world of hip-hop over the next few years. “Karma Kingdom” is a unique album in the world of hip-hop with strong old school influence on tracks like “Burnin’” to the almost gospel opening of “Track 36 (stars).” Overall there’s a chill flow to the album due to Eibol's, jazz inspired beats. Even with the chill flow of the album there’s still an edge to it with cutting vocals and intelligent word play that keeps the listener’s attention. “A Song for Jake” is a great track that recognizes the passage of time and the way even our closest friends can change before us; this is sentiment that resonates with people in their mid-20s, who see how careers and life in general has had an effect on their lives. This is one of those hip-hop records that won’t make you “shake your ass” or whatever, instead it will make you think, and that’s important with the direction popular hip-hip has been heading. This is one of those albums, with no bad tracks, that you’ll want to hear over and over.
