Heaven and Dixie Night
Looking at a picture of Pirates of the Mississippi conjures up images of Billy Ray Cyrus and bad country mullets everywhere, but that shouldn't deter fans of the classic country sound from purchasing their new album, "Heaven and a Dixie Night."
The sound of earlier country music with its unforgettable sound is heavily prevalent on the album. It is nice to see the band stay true to what made them famous and not try to do the new country sound with electric guitar and a pop music background. The album has the up-beat knee slapping music as well as the slower song that tell great stories, which is the backbone of country music.
When I think country the music I hear playing in my head sounds like "Heaven and Dixie Night." Now if only I could get those mullets out of my head.
