Kelis - Kelis Was Here
- Kelis, the girl who brought all the boys to the yard is bringing them right back with her new album “Kelis was Here.” This is a strong and soulful CD from one of the strongest female rappers out there. “Kelis was Here” is a diverse and well-produced album. Every track brings something different and new to the table. This album invokes the spirit of soulful artists like Lauren Hill as well as nasty legends like Lil’ Kim. This contrast can easily be seen by listening to track five, “Living Proof,” a soulful and beautiful R & B track that is immediately followed by the sexy and catchy banger “Blindfold Me.” This album explores the entire range of Hip-hop and R & B while still fitting together well. This is a deep album that is a cut above most mainstream hip-hop out there today. It has something for everyone. Kelis not only WAS here, she’s an artist with staying power that should keep her here for years to come.
