Ridiculous

Norm McDonald finally releases his long awaited and anticipated sketch album, "Ridiculous." This album is really a throw back to an older form of comedy album not seen in some time and best known by albums from famous comedy groups such as Monty Python and Cheech and Chong. The album starts off with a sketch about the Marvel Comics super heroes: The Fantastic Four. This is the perfect sketch for MacDonald's dry and hilarious way of presenting the ridiculousness of the obvious. Another funny track is Norm's clever spin on the classic song "The Twelve Day's of Christmas." Again Norm's perfect inflection and brilliant ways of stating the obvious really fits the sketch perfectly. The main downside of the album seems to be its heavy reliance on gay jokes. This objection is not to be taken as political correctness, but rather the lack of humor in simply depicting two men having sex. It simply is not funny enough to warrant even calling it a joke, even with Will Ferrell's exaggerated screaming. Over all, however, the album is a real treat; it includes many funny sketches, including SNL classic "Girls, Girls, Girls." The album features other SNL alums such as Molly Shannon, Tim Meadows and the above-mentioned Will Ferrell; the album also features Artie Lang of the Howard Stern Show. This is a great album for any fan of Norm MacDonald or SNL; those who are not familiar with Norm MacDonald, however, might want to sit this one out.
