Kasey Chambers - Carnival
- The fourth album from Kasey Chambers entitled, “Carnival,” portrays Chamber’s babyish vocals against confessing lyrics. On “Colour of a Carnival,” Chambers’ voice is kindred to Donna Lewis’ with its twinge and lines like, “I live in a circle, runnin’ around and around and around and around. Walk over a wire, pullin’ me down, me down, me down, me down.” “Sign on the Door,” could be a song in a movie about the lead character’s intimate transformation with lyrics like, “I’m a believer, paid for my sins, stand over the water, watchin’ my ship come in. I was blind but now I see what was right there in front of me.” “The Rain,” has drum play from Michael Barker and lyrics about righting certain wrongs with lines like, “I will try to make everyone happy again.” “Light Up a Candle,” has electric guitar riffs, courtesy of Mark Punch which resonates lines like, “You called me baby with that look in your eye.” “Carnival,” by Kasey Chambers envelops the listener into this singer/songwriter’s innermost thoughts and takes them on an excursion of self-discovery and change.
