Peter Frampton - Fingerprints
- Peter Frampton’s first foray into an all-instrumental album produced “Fingerprints.” He collaborated with a mixed bag of artists to make singular songs that affix themselves in listeners’ minds long after they shut off the album. “Boot It Up” starts “Fingerprints” off and Frampton gets some assistance from Courtney Pine on tenor sax, which boosts the song. “Ida Y Vuelta (Out And Back)” has acoustic bass guitar work from Charlie Chadwick and some miraculous percussion work from Daniel de los Reyes for a sound Frampton fans won’t be expecting. On “Black Hole Sun” Frampton along with Matt Cameron and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam pump out an instrumental version of Soundgarden’s 1994 smash hit. “Float” features acoustic guitar help from Gordon Kennedy who also co-produced the track. “My Cup of Tea” has Hank Marvin and Brian Bennett of The Shadows lending a hand with Marvin on guitar and Bennett on drums. On “Blooze” Frampton cavorts with Warren Hayes of The Allman Brothers. On “Cornerstones” Frampton romps with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones where Watts plays the drums while Wyman strums the bass. This eclectic instrumental release from Peter Frampton is uncharted territory for this English rocker and he definitely leaves his “Fingerprints” on this album.
