Cage9 - El Motivo
- Cage9 ventures to be a choleric hard rock band and on some of the tracks on “El Motivo” they triumph, while on others they are inadequate in their quest. The first song has crushing drums and could be in a movie where there is a high-speed vehicle chase culminating in a massive explosion. The second song has straightforward drumming as well as guitar, with flickers of counting in the background and lyrics about running away like, “If I were to say to you let us leave this avenue.” The third track has an impressive guitar intro and “hey” frequently said in the background. This song sounds quite hostile, due to the singer’s altered voice but even with its drab lyrics like, “Wake up… don’t you want to move” the ominous tone they were attempting doesn’t come off. Cage9 does have premium instrument work and a striking vocalist, but if they want to make it they need to reassess their sound and come up with a way to distinguish themselves from the rest of the hard rock pack.
