Jade - Banned in America
- When I first heard the song “If I Catch My Breath” by Jade, I was instantly hooked. The song shows off Jade’s ability as a singer, and the use of the choir and heavy bass gave the song an eerie feel – perfect for this time of year and Halloween.

This song could single-handedly make an album good, but the album is more than that; it is spectacular. “Banned in America” is the U.S. debut for Canadian singer Jade, and is one of the best things to come out of the country since Wayne Gretzky.

Jade’s voice reminds me a lot of Amy Lee, the lead singer for Evanescence, but it sounds a little higher, to give it a different feel. When Jade goes with the harder adult-rock sound, her songs are much better, as they show off the strength of her vocal cords. The slower songs are not nearly as good, but still can hold their own.

The U.S. debut by Jade is an album to which any music fan should consider listening. I hope in her future albums, Jade goes with the rock styling a bit more. I’m also convinced that if “If I Catch My Breath” is released as a single, then Jade will make a strong showing on the musical charts.
