Family Groove Company - The Charmer
- “The Charmer” by the Family Groove Company is an eclectic selection of songs that left me scratching my head.

The Chicago-band chooses to use a mix of music styles and vocal and instrumental songs. The problem is the instrumentals sound like they came from a Wal-Mart Casio and I have no idea what any of the songs are about.

Let’s look at an example of back-to-back songs on the album: “The Well Wisher” the fifth track on the album uses the organ so well I could imagine myself sitting in a ball park and listening to the song. Really, in between innings this song could have been played. Then swing the musical pendulum in a different direction on the next track to “Virginia Hill.” The vocals return in this song, but the instrumentals overshadow the vocals, as they are hard to hear and as I mentioned before I have no idea what the group is singing about.

“The Charmer” is a CD I just didn’t get, maybe you will.
