Various Artists - Latin Torch Singers
- A potpourri of songs in Spanish that will make your blood boil and your heart soar comprises the various artists featured on “Latin Torch Singers.” “Vereda Tropical,” with its rapturous vocals by Toña La Negra, accompanied by percussion, make this song a unique one. “La Flor de la Canela,” by Chabuca Granda, has organ play and a Latin beat that makes this song one that could have been present in the Johnny Depp movie, “Don Juan DeMarco.” “Cuatro Vidas,” by Eydie Gormé y los Panchos, has more percussion work and could be a song in a movie about Old World Mexico. The vocalist’s booming voice speaks straight to a listener’s soul. “Perfume de Gardenias,” by Virginia López con la Orquestra de Chucho Zarzosa, has guitar work and sounds like a love song from one paramour to another. To listen to “Latin Torch Singers” is to hear the best in Latin beats, and they are sung by singers who do the rhythms justice.
