Lionel Richie - Coming Home
- Still going strong and sticking to his successful roots, Lionel Richie releases his eighth studio album of his much accomplished 24-year career. After the previous few albums failed to generate any major singles in the U.S., and only modest success in the U.K., Richie brings fans a much-awaited disc that has some chart power, aptly titled Coming Home.
With some of the most definitive singles of the past two decades under his belt (“Truly,” “All Night Long,” “Say You, Say Me”), Richie has a great deal to live up to. The first single and opening track off the current disc, “I Call it Love,” is a classic Richie love song with updated beats and grooves. “All Around the World” and “Stand Down” show some diversity on the disc with sambas and reggae influence. Overall, Coming Home may not be a disc that makes the world stop and pay attention, but it’s still a very good album that restores some validity to one of R&B’s all-time greats.
One final note - Lionel Richie should never be referred to as “Nicole’s dad.”
