Starr Parodi - Common Places
- The most recent album from Starr Parodi, entitled Common Places, which was co-produced by her husband Jeff Fair, has tunes ranging from vibrant and bright to bereft and cheerless, but all showcase Parodi’s proficiency at the piano. The first song is the title track and has precise notes intermingled with hushes, in between which give the song an ominous feel. “For What It’s Worth” has what sounds like a synthesizer behind the piano, which gives the song an out-of-this-world vibe and could be one in a movie where a character is being chased. “Albinoni's Adagio” has a lullaby-like characteristic and twinkles as you listen. On “Kenya,” Parodi uses the lower rhythms on the piano to resonate the seriousness of the piece. “We Are Here” has a just plain happy beat to it. “”Follow Me” has a speedy flow that could make listeners just stop for a second and smile. Common Places, by Starr Parodi, is anything but average and listeners who take the time to pay attention will not be disappointed.
