Under the Influence of Giants - Under the Influence of Giants
- Ever thought of seducing someone into your mother’s bed? Well that’s just one inspirational track (“Mama’s Room”) from the self-titled debut album from Under the Influence of Giants. Thankfully shortened to UTIOG, the Los Angeles quartet is making a strong case to be my favorite new band of the year. The album is a literal explosion of energy, infusing elements of rock, funk, disco, and hip-hop beats to create one killer pop album.
Beyond the mega-successful and previously mentioned “Mama’s Room,” radio friendly tracks like “In the Clouds” will have you blasting your car stereo and lungs without noticing the past four red lights you cruised through without stopping. Lead singer Aaron Bruno’s incredible falsetto will bring comparison to music of the Bee Gees or Prince, but the band’s total package can only be called their own.
UTIOG is definitely a new band worthy of support. I would suggest checking them out now, live at your local nightclub, before emptying your wallet in two years to catch the stadium tour.
