Bootsy Collins - Christmas Is 4 Ever
- Adding a nifty surge to holiday favorites, Christmas Is 4 Ever, by Bootsy Collins, puts a mellow twist on joyous ditties. “N-Yo-City” has keyboard work from Bernie Worrell, Keith Cheatham, Razor “Sharp” Johnson, Morris Mingo, Terry “Zapp” Troutman and Candis Cheatham, as well as saxophone work from Randy Villars and Dan Bynum. The lyrics are a jumpin’ way to get the album going with an announcement such as, “I wanna tell you somethin’…boys and girls all over the world, its that time, it’s a Merry Christmas time.” “Merry Christmas Baby” has drum work from Mingo, Frankie “Kash” Waddy, Melvin Parker, Teddy Wilburn and Ravi Javahati. It also incorporates some piano play from Worell, more keyboard play as well as horn blowing from Villars, Michael Wade, Gary Winters. Marc Fields, NastyNattiHorne, and Austin Vickrey. All these instruments conjoin to make a track that etches the R&B feel to a Christmas song with lines like, “Merry Christmas baby, you sure do treat me right.” “Chestnutz (The Christmas Song)” has more drum and keyboard work and puts a blues feel to all-time holiday staple. Christmas Is 4 Ever, by Bootsy Collins, is a shift from the everyday Christmas album and if you want a varied bite to your festive music this season, then this album is for you.
