Ralphie May - Girth Of A Nation
- Following his stint on the first season of Vh1’s reality show, Celebrity Fit Club, comic Ralphie May was introduced to the public at large. His latest album, Girth Of A Nation, is filled with biting mouthfuls about everyday situations and some diatribes that might offend certain people but might make others grab their sides in laughter. On “Black Movie Theater,” May explains how, “you’ll get so much more out of your entertainment dollar at a black movie house than a white one by the commentary provided to you by the black folks around y’all.” On “Open Water,” May talks about the preview of a movie where two scuba divers are stranded by their tour boat. May explains the premise while the audience erupts in merriment, no doubt from May’s antics on stage which are unfortunately lost to those listening to the album. Some might be disgruntled by May’s bit called “Midgets,” where he declares his love for “big midget heads, I just want to hug em’.” On “Mentally Challenged Americans,” May discusses how, when he appeared on The Tonight Show, he was asked not to say the word “retard,” because the producers said it was “offensive.” May’s reply, “To who?” If you aren’t worried about being politically correct and want to hear a guy tell it as he sees it, then pick up Ralphie May’s Girth Of A Nation, and get ready to chuckle your a** off.
