Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Live at the Fillmore East
- A live compilation of Young’s archived performances with Crazy Horse’s late original leader, Danny Whitten, this collection is a long time coming for diehard fans of Young’s early stuff. “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” has superb guitar work and lyrics like, “Think I’d like to go back home and take it easy. There’s a woman I’d like to get to know…everybody seems to wonder what it's like down here.” “Winterlong” has harder guitar strumming and lyrics like, “I’m waiting for you…it’s all illusion.” On “Down By The River,” the crowd can be heard cheering as Young and Whitten delve into a song about friendship, with lyrics like, “Be on my side, I’ll be on your side.” “Wonderin’” builds up in the intro, then explodes with lyrics like, “ I be workin’ all day long to keep my heart from saggin’.” Live at the Fillmore East, by Neil Young & Crazy Horse, is the fulfillment of an alliance that was history in the making.
