Lucky Stiffs - Gold in Peace, Iron in War
- The Lucky Stiffs are a San Francisco-based punk group who pride themselves on their live performances, and their new album Gold in Peace, Iron in War is supposed to embody the energy and excitement from a concert experience. Unfortunately, the Stiffs don’t have a very unique sound, and are easily lost in the repetitive sea of punk music that they actively try to avoid.

My favorite songs on the disc are “Walk Away” and “This Time,” but too many tracks sound alike and you grow tired of listening about three-fourths of the way through. This is a young band with endless energy that hasn’t quite found a signature sound. I have no doubt that their concerts are a blast, but the Lucky Stiffs have trouble connecting with the audience in the same way when it’s not live.
