Chris Botti - December
- Chris Botti, the clever trumpeter brings both melancholy and mirth to his fans with his holiday album, appropriately entitled, “December.” A mixed bag of glum tunes melded with some cheerful ones, whether you are or are not in the holiday frame of mind, this album will fit your disposition.

“The Christmas Song” begins the album and is one that could be heard in a holiday motion picture, where the main character is alone on Christmas and thinking about the year gone by. The song has Botti’s trademark Trumpet blowing but with a somber twist, along with guitar work from Shane Fontayne, James Harrah and Anthony Wilson as well as drum play from Peter Erskine. “Ave Maria” has a choir in the intro which gives the song a celestial bend. “Winter Wonderland” adds a playfulness to the album with Botti picking up the pace of his trumpet gusts just a tad. Bass guitar work is also present from Brian Bromberg, Jimmy Haslip, Christian McBride, David Carpenter and Jon Ossman. “The First Noel” has organ play from Jeffrey C.J. Vanston which gives the song a heavenly feeling. “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” has more organ play from Vanston who also lends his piano playing talents to the track. Randy Waldman also tickles the ivories. “Christmas” by Chris Botti is a holiday music lovers dream at Christmas time and whether you are down and out or happy the holidays are here, this album will satisfy your every whim.
