Ne-Yo - In My Own Words
- Shaffer Smith, better known on the R & B scene as Ne-Yo, dropped
In My Own Words, and added his velvety sound to the musical lexicon. "Stay" is a song that one could hear at their local dance hangout and groove to with their sweetheart. It has lines like, "Make me happy so relaxin' without it I can't go on. I just can't help myself." "Let Me Get This Right" has what sounds like piano playing in the background and lines like, "Feelin' this thing changin'...no matter what the road...let me get this right." "So Sick" has Ne-Yo singing downtrodden lines like, "I go walkin' around with my head down." On "When You're Mad," Ne-Yo expounds on how he is turned on when his girlfriend is riled up, with lines like, "I just want to ease you up. I don't mean no disrespect, when I caught starin', knowin' that it makes you mad. I'm sorry seein' you mad is so sexy." The video for "Sexy Love" has had sizable airplay on VH1 and MTV, and Ne-Yo croons sensual lines like, "When we do our thing, when we do the things we do, baby girl, you make me sing sexy love...keep me strong." Ne-Yo's In My Own Words is just that, the artist expressing his innermost romantic feelings for the music world to enjoy.
