The Best of Depeche Mode, Vol. 1

An 80s band with a legion of followers that will be music to longtime fans' ears, Vince Clarke, Martin L. Gore and Alan Wilder are back with The Best of Depeche Mode, Vol. 1. Some might fuss over the fact that there are no tracks from the much-loved Black Celebration album, but the collection is one that hard-core admirers will like and might even turn on new fans as well. "Personal Jesus" has heavy drum play and calls out to listeners with its opening line, "Reach out and touch me." "Just Can't Get Enough" has futuristic keyboard play and lines like, "Just can't get enough, just can't get enough, all the things you do to me, and everything you said." "Everything Counts" has more drum work and what sounds like bells ringing. It talks of an agreement that shouldn't be taken lightly, with lines like, "The handshake seals the contract, from the contract there's no turning point." "Enjoy The Silence" has even more signature keyboard playing. The Best of Depeche Mode, Vol. 1 is a best of album that will satisfy their devoted worshippers and might cause others to fall in love with their unique sound.
