Keith Urban - Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing
- A personal essay of his hard knock times of late, Keith Urban gives the country music arena, Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing. Urban has gone from supermarket tabloid fodder to entertainment magazine buzz with his marriage to Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and his stint in rehab. Urban expounds on all his calamities as well as his good fortune with his reflective vocals. “Once in a Lifetime” seems to be a love letter to Kidman illustrating how their relationship has endured against all odds, with lyrics like, “I can see it in your eyes and feel in your touch. I know that you're scared, but you’ve never been so loved. It’s a long shot baby, I know its true, but if anyone can make it I’m bettin’ on me and you…The best is yet to come.” The track has drum play from Chris McHugh, acoustic guitar from Urban and Dann Huff. “Shine” has acoustic guitar and piano play from Urban, bass guitar work from Jimmie Lee Sloas and lyrics that talk about taking the weight off a woman, such as, “Wind is waiting on your shoulders, its hangin’ around a little long. I can see it in your eyes, you're takin’ on a load that’s just too strong. But let me get down to the heart of the matter, baby if you want I can make it better now.” “I Told You So” has more drum play from McHugh, synthesizer work from Tim Lauer and Uillean pipe work from Eric Rigler for a unique sound. The lyrics speak of a female who doesn’t want Urban around such as, “You said you need your space. I wasn’t where you wanted to be.” Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing, by Keith Urban, is a musical diary entry of the happenings in the artist’s life, done to perfection.
