Los Lonely Boys - Sacred
- A rock album with a Latin feel that manifests a raw sound describes Sacred, by Los Lonely Boys. The Garza brothers pack an incredible punch with this album and JoJo, Henry and Ringo do not disappoint. “My Way” has electric guitar work from Henry Garza, drum play from Ringo Garza, Hammond organ play from Mike Finnegan and Reese Wynans, along with booming trumpet blowing from Darrell Leonard and Al Gomez. The track talks of the band not needing material goods to make them content, with lines like, “I don’t need no fortune, I don’t need no fame. That’s all just an illusion. To me it don’t mean a thing.” “Órale” has more electric guitar work from Garza, as well as more Hammond organ play from Finnegan and Wynans. Percussion adds zest to this track courtesy of Eric Darken, Lenny Castro and Carl Perazza, Throwing all cares to the wind is the order of the day in this song, with lyrics like, “My problems of the day seem to fade away when I look into the sky. It’s like drinkin’ clear, cool water. Or makin’ castles in the sky, oh I feel so free from life’s tragedies. Don’t need no more hurtin’, don’t need no more cryin’…So I say Órale.” “Diamonds” continues with the electric guitar motif so expertly wielded on the album and adds some glimmering keyboard work from Finnegan. The flow is even more upbeat with lyrics like, “I’m lookin’ at a rainbow. Way out across them hills and my baby’s love is with me and I know it’s for real. I ain’t got no diamonds; girl you know I ain’t got no gold. I ain’t never been a rich man but girl I got you here to hold.” Los Lonely Boys’ Sacred is filled with songs about love and finding your own route no matter where it may lead.
