Assembly of Dust - Recollection
- Assembly of Dust’s Recollection has songs that harken back to earlier times, with a country rock twist, and their lyrics show the intimate emotions of the band. The first track has organ work and a male vocalist whose timbre echoes both hardship and tenderness, with lines like, “I saw beauty above the clouds. I was hiding behind the station. People lined up on every block came to witness the coronation. In the hush of the night there was light from above and a loud commotion. Saw the queen as she passed and I fell to one knee in a show of devotion.” The second track has a country vibe to it with drums and guitar play. It’s a good song to crank up during a long road trip and is about a common fellow trying to better his situation, with lines like, “Well, I was workin’ real hard in the gravel yard when I came across a silver coin. You know, it wasn’t that much but I tried my luck.” The third track brings back the organ and muses about a woman’s feelings about a certain song, with lines like, “The piano played a melody that haunted her for days.” The fourth track has sprightly guitar work and lines like, “You may serve them roses, you may serve them delight, when the workin’ day closes I swing you sweetly goodnight.” Assembly of Dust’s Recollection has ballads about the everyday man’s predicaments, circumstances and instrument play that pieces the stories together exquisitely.
