AM - Troubled Times
- For a singer/songwriter who LA Weekly named “2005's Singer/Songwriter of the Year,” AM’s debut album, Troubled Times, is a mixture of modulating vocals and agile instrument play that will empower listeners to sit back and just let the music flow. “Gone Away” has guitar work from Jamie Myerson and has a misty vibe to it, with lines like, “I sit around. Nothin’s the same. I’m lookin’ for answers but I’m already late. You say you need me one more night and then you’re packin’ your bag sayin’ it’s alright.” The title track treads a bit quicker with bass work from Mark Getten. AM moons over dodging one’s romantic obstacles, with lines like, “Wonderin’ why you stayed. You lookin’ for some answers hopin’ there’s some other way. Just tell me when you're ready, we’ll get you far far away. Far from these troubled times.” “So Lonely” is a somber tune where AM talks about how he has been treated in a relationship and that the outcome has led to isolation, with lines like, "You once asked me why did I do it, wasn’t nothin’ to it, I found. Cuz you stole me thinkin’ you owned me but you so lonely now.” Troubled Times, by AM, delineates the private thoughts of the artist when it comes to his liaisons and is a great album for listeners to hear when they need to ruminate about their own relationship difficulties.
