Incognito - Bees + Flowers + Things
- With a blend of contrasting singers bestowing their inimitable voices to specific tracks, Incognito’s Bees + Flowers + Things, is as immutable as Mother Nature herself and as ever changing in rhythm. “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” has grand piano work from Dominic “Ski” Oakenfull and drum work from Matt Cooper, Luke Parkhouse and Richard Bailey. The vocals are sung by Joy Rose and she gets down to the jubilance of the song with a timbre that exudes deep, unyielding emotion. The song’s upbeat lyrics include, “My love is the sunshine, everybody loves the sunshine.” “Everyday” has Hammond organ work from Oakenfull along with Fender Rhodes work from Cooper. The featured vocalist here is Imaani, whose voluptuous voice is like velvet as she utters edicts of everlasting love, such as, “Come over here closer my dear, wrap me in your tenderness. There’s no place else I’d rather be my love. So strong, when we are together, so real I’ve never known it better. A love like ours can surely last till the end of time. Everyday and in every way.” A marvelously sensual remake of The Lovin’ Spoonful’s classic anthem, “Summer In The City,” begins with a roar of indomitable violin play from Lucy Wilkins, Everton Nelson, Alison Dodds, Warren Zielinski, Richard George, Gillon Cameron, Darragh Morgan and Cath Haggo. The vigorous feeling perseveres with the incursion of Hammond organ work from Oakenfull. The fervid lyrics are sung by Carleen Anderson, who emotes lyrics such as, “Hot time, summer in the city, back of my neck gettin’ dirty and gritty.” Incognito’s Bees + Flowers + Things, has a plentiful array of instruments and vocals that are as universal in complexion as they are splendid.
