Beau Tand - Beau Tand
- The self-titled album by Beau Tand shows off this Washington, D.C. artist’s writing and producing potential. The tracks talk about a profusion of emotions ranging from sweet nothings to exclamations of hopelessness. “Ready for DeMille” has guitar work and echoing voices in the background giving the song an unnerving vibe. The track is no doubt an homage to the 1950 Billy Wilder motion picture, Sunset Blvd. The song speaks of madness which reverberates the film’s notorious climax, with lyrics like, “Everything around you, lies that surround you…Style that define you, be ready for DeMille, you’ll be ready for the flash, you’ll be ready for the long red carpet on the back of life.” “Hey Girl” starts out mellow, but then guitar and some percussion too, backs it up. Tand’s barking makes this track a great song to holler when you are stressed, with lyrics like, “Hey girl, its hard to believe…Does his best to stay warm…Like this narrow slice of life is your fault.” “It’s A Wonderful Thing” has a psychedelic touch to it and talks about how fantastic Tand thinks a certain female is, with lyrics like, “It’s a wonderful thing, to see you in that dress…It’s a wonderful thing when you smile, how the crowds grow and I can’t think of anything else that I’d rather view, than to see you.” Beau Tand’s self-titled album is a sterling example of a new artist strutting his writing and producing chops and doing it with style and grace.
