Deathboy - End of An Error
- Deathboy’s End of An Error is an album filled with electronica rhythms and lyrics that have pronounced messages, whether they be of hate or of ambivalence; the beats augment the gravity of the lyrics seductively. The first song lets listeners know that this band is faithful to the electronica musical genre. The vocalist has a forbidding voice which aggrandizes the one-of-a-kind instrument play. It has a very accusatory tone with its almost scolding lyrics like, “Just look at what you did…No one’s going to miss you, cuz you move in different ways.” The second track is one that could be heard in a scene in a motion picture as an individual is striving to overcome an obstacle. It has an ominous build-up, static-like sounds and asks questions pertaining to the vocalist’s identity and whereabouts. Yet, listeners have to probe further to ascertain if he is speaking of his physical or ideological issues, with lyrics such as, “Do you know who I am? Where I am now or where I started? Recognize in your mind where I am now, broken hearted, do you hear in my voice where it comes from….Do you see my face, where it comes from?” The third track has guitar and possible synthesizer work for a song that is suspenseful and could be the background music to an excerpt in a horror flick where the murderer is carefully stalking his intended victim awaiting the opportune moment to strike. The fourth track has breaths of silence in between each stanza, making the repetition captivating, with lyrics like, “So you breathe. So you see. So you cry just like me. So you think. So does she. So you fear, just like me. So you hurt. So you hate. So you fall. So you wait. See the sky. See the sea. See through you just like me.” Deathboy’s End of An Error has unrivaled dance grooves that might make listeners disregard the seemingly dark intimations that are conveyed.
