Andy Dick - Do Your Shows Always Suck?
- An ex-cast member of the NBC show, NewsRadio, and who has also starred in such movies as Old School and Zoolander, gives comedy fans his latest album, Do Your Shows Always Suck? Judging from the introduction, this album was recorded at one of Dick’s appearances at a college campus since he asks at the beginning of the routine, “Is this campus dry?” He then goes into how he has “been advised to stop drinking,” by his “many therapists,” due to the unrest that ensues when he becomes intoxicated. The audience can’t stop laughing as Dick goes on to talk about a nasty break up he went through when he ended his relationship with someone he worked with on The Assistant, a show he hosted in 2004. He makes jibes and changes the gender of said person from male to female and the audience is in stitches the whole time. Dick, who seems to have a guitar with him during the performance which he strums sporadically, then goes on a rant about squirrels and how, “They’ll never sleep with your best friend.” On another track, Dick talks about his experience with MySpace and how pitiful his encounter with it has been with the line, “On my home page, it says, ‘You have one friends.’ That’s how bad mine sucked, they expect you to have at least more than one friend. That’s pathetic.” Dick also delves into some personal issues such as the fact he was adopted and his parents explained that he was “special,” through a book called The Chosen Child. Dick tries valiantly to clean up his act and does so on this album. It does have its share of innuendo, but Dick noticeably tones it down compared to his earlier efforts. If you are a fan of Andy Dick and his eccentric type of humor, then pick up Do Your Shows Always Suck?
