Chris Berardo & The DesBerardos - Ignoring All The Warning Signs
- Chris Berardo & The DesBerardos’ latest album, Ignoring All The Warning Signs, is a conglomeration of rock and country sounds with harrowing lyrics mixed in for good measure. The male vocalist’s timbre is similar to that of veteran rocker Jon Bon Jovi, with his heart-of-gold yet restless musings.

“The One” has ripping guitar and drum play and is a song that is filled with starry-eyed tidings for the future, with lyrics like, “Well, there’s a star up in the sky and I am wishin’ hard and tryin’ to get by and I think it's callin’ me and I’ve never been the kind to live on hope that I am blind in the night...Some time it gets lost, but love can still get found. Is this the one that I’ve been waiting, darling is this the one?” It seems to be a cry into the night to see if the woman he has found is indeed his soulmate.

“So Good, So Far” has acoustic guitar play and some harmonica throughout that gives this track more of a country feel than a rock one. Its lines speak of wishful thinking on the vocalist’s part, with lyrics such as, “I used to think that I was rollin’ easy. All I could do to keep my feet on the ground. I used to stare up at the stars and night.” The vocalist talks of a realization and that there is more to his existence then he previously thought.

“Never the Same” is the quintessential road trip song. One can picture trumpeting this song as they roam down a lengthy highway on their way to fulfill long held aspirations. This song continues with the downhome feeling and speaks about freedom, with lyrics such as, “What’ll set me free, cuz I have been a fool, a fool that would not see. If there’s a love left in your heart…I will see you up ahead on the road to a brighter day cuz I have stood by way too often.”

“I Will Love Again” brings together drums, acoustic guitar and harmonica to encompass a song about how love has branded him in the past, but how the vocalist is confident in his conviction that finding love again is not hopeless. The intro begins with acoustic guitar strumming, then the drums and harmonica chime in, with lyrics such as, “Been in love a couple times, enough to know about how bright that light can shine. And I have seen love ripped away and I have learned to trade tomorrow for today. I’ve been down and I won’t stay down anymore and if the spirit knocks I will throw open my door.” His voice is somber in the beginning but picks up as the song moves on and you can reckon that if he searches hard enough and never gives up, he will find the love he seeks so badly.

Ignoring All The Warning Signs, by Chris Berardo & The DesBerardos, is an album filled with upbeat instrument play that contrasts the sometimes downtrodden lyrics. Yet the lead vocalist’s tone has an unspoken twinge of heartache that he is attempting to overcome.
